Job Summary

This is an outstanding opportunity for a motivated and experienced CPA and Real Estate Accountant to take their career to the next level and work for the most up and coming Real Estate firm in Los Angeles. Winstar Properties was and continues to be the largest buyer,  in acquisition volume, of Multi-Family Real Estate in Los Angeles for the last two years. The position will work directly under the direction and leadership of our Chief Operating Officer and President.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Oversee the company's accounting and internal controls and safeguards
  • Help establish and maintain the organization's accounting practices, principals and procedures.
  • Ensure company accounting procedures conform to generally accepted accounting principals, and implement changes where necessary
  • Helps in preparing monthly Financial Statements for upper management's review
  • Prepares annual Tax Returns and K-1s for all entities
  • Works with the Director of Property Operations to create and manage property budgets
  • Actively manages accounting staff, including but not limited to; hiring, training, delegating, follow-up, discipline
  • Management of General Ledger, data entry, account reconciliations, AP/AR and other daily accounting tasks
  • Books all Escrow Statements, Re-Fi Statements, Owner Contributions for new acquisitions in the system timely and accurately.
  • Ensures books and records are correct and best industry practices are followed
  • Maintain Corporate Books, AP, AR, Payroll and budgeting for operating company, Winstar Properties Inc and its Officers
  • Oversee fraud control and protection at the corporate and property level

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelors Degree with Accounting emphasis
  • CPA
  • MBA encouraged but not required
  • MUST have 3-5+ years Institutional Real Estate experience or "Big 5" experience in Real Estate division
  • Superior technical accounting skills
  • Strong technology skills, including expertise in Property Management Software, MS Excel, Quickbooks
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills
  • Knowledge of SEC requirements and internal controls
  • Leadership skills, that allow applicant to  take initiative and implement necessary changes
